Chef Juan Acevedo
Born in New York and raised in Florida with Puerto Rican and African American roots, Chef Juan’s approach to cuisine is deeply shaped by culture, travel, family, and hospitality.
Drawing inspiration from Southern comfort, Latin flavors, coastal ingredients, and classical French technique, his cooking reflects a balance of refinement and familiarity — elevated cuisine that still feels personal, welcoming, and soulful.
After more than a decade working in luxury resorts, private clubs, fine dining restaurants, and high-volume hospitality operations across the United States, Chef Juan founded Plates & Thyme to create a more intimate and personalized dining experience centered around connection, storytelling, and hospitality.
Throughout his career, Chef Juan has held leadership roles with luxury hospitality brands including Wyndham Grand, Jekyll Island Club Resort, Walt Disney World, Streamsong Resort, and most recently served as Executive Chef of Charleston’s Harbour Club.
His experience spans fine dining, chef’s table experiences, luxury private events, multi-million-dollar food and beverage operations, and elevated hospitality programming.
